Have You Seen West Don Lands Lately?

Have you seen West Don Lands lately?   The development of the area - bounded by Parliament Street, the Don River, King Street and the Rail corridor - is being accelerated due to being the site of the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games Athletes' Village.

The latest images and some key changes we noted during a recent visit, right after the jump!

The end of the Bayview extension has now been re-routed to make way for the rapidly changing developments.

The Don River Park, a 7.3 hectare (18 acre) area, is definitely taking shape and is expected to open in 2013.  With the inclusion of a pavilion, a hilltop playground, and spaces for sport and recreational activities, people will soon be able to enjoy spectacular views along the river's edge.

Located under and around the Eastern Avenue, Richmond and Adelaide overpasses, the park is scheduled to open this summer.  It will provide spaces for climbing structures and basketball courts, amongst other recreational activities.

And last but certainly not least, the condos!

River City, the first private sector development in the West Don Lands, is well underway.  Developed by Urban Capital, the project includes more than 900 loft-styled condos and town homes to be developed in four phases. Construction has begun and the first phase occupancy is slated for 2013.

West Don Lands will ultimately be home to 6,000 residents, many in condominium developments.  The next project which will be launched in the near future is Canary District condos
