We recently had the pleasure of chatting with Johnson Cheng, Sales Manager for Flaire Condos, to find out just what it is that makes this new condo at Don Mills and Lawrence so unique.
Flaire Condos, to be built jointly by Cadillac Fairview and FRAM Building Group, is the latest addition to Cadillac Fairview's master-planned community The Shops at Don Mills. It is also the much anticipated follow-up to Reflections and LivLofts.
Flaire Condos is the third building to be part of Toronto's finest open air village, The Shops
at Don Mills, which will ultimately be home to
2,500 new residential units. The community "offers people a place to
live, work, and play" says Cheng. "It is like a
Yorkville environment, but without the hustle and bustle of downtown
traffic."

The Building
To create a unique condo that would complement an equally unique community, Flaire teamed up with architecture firm Giannone Petricone Associates and interior designers Munge Leung.
The development will encompass two sculptural, 11-storey towers connected by a four-floor podium. Far from being another standard brick block, Flaire Condos was designed with undulating ribbons of concrete and steel that wrap around the two towers, giving the project an original, horizontal feel.

The interior was designed to feel like home throughout - right from the lobby and amenities to the individual units. "There's an opportunity for human connection everywhere in this building," said Alessandro Munge of Munge Leung as he described the Flaire vision.
Cheng further elaborated on Munge's vision, "Alessandro injects a lot of personality, a lot of warmth... Colour tones associated with edgy, urban design are complemented with more earthly tones and natural materials targeting individuals that may not be at the very edge of new design, but yet want a little personality in their homes and amenities." He adds, "he wanted to create space that residents would sit, enjoy, experience and not simply just walk by. This design is culminated in the Miami-inspired rooftop terrace that invites residents to relax and stay awhile."
The Amenities
The Shops at Don Mills by Cadillac Fairview continues to grow as an outdoor lifestyle destination that offers everything you want within a few blocks: retailers, coffee shops and restaurants, office and professional space, and extensive guest services.

Eateries range from fast food to fancy and everything in between (e.g. Pizza Pizza, Bier Markt, Fabbrica). Grocery stores include Metro and McEwan Fine Shops. The area also caters to young families, offering baby services and strollers. An outdoor Town Square features a variety of family-oriented events throughout the year, including a skating rink in the winter.
The Residential Units
There
will be 297 units of approximately 500 to 1,000 sq ft, with
the ability to create larger suites to meet clients' demands. According to Cheng, the units
offer "expansive open space combining what people embrace in their home -
the dining room, living room, and the kitchen."
Tentative occupancy is December 2014, with construction expected to begin later this year.
The Sales Centre
Newly completed, the Sales Centre clearly paints a picture of the lifestyle that Flaire presents through the use of a mini-theatre, a 3D model of the master-planned community and a model suite.
Featuring exquisite finishes by Munge Leung throughout, the Sales Centre also includes state-of-the-art touch-screen technology, allowing purchasers to view and compare floorplans. "Floorplans are digitized, which allows buyers to shortlist based on their requirements and compare plans side-by-side," Cheng explained.
